When traveling as a family, especially with extended family, it can be hard to find accommodations for a large party. However, we found several hotels and resorts that offered large suites that offered both common areas to gather, and separate rooms with privacy for sleeping. We found some of the best places to stay in Nashville, especially for larger groups.

Gaylord Opryland hotel
Staying at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel in Nashville is way more than just a bed to sleep in for the night. This place is like its own city! You could literally stay here for several days and still not get to take it all in. The Opryland hotel is probably my favorite hotel of all time. I remember visiting there as a kid, and now, love to be able to take my kids there.
Indoor botanical gardens at the Opryland Even if you don’t stay at the Opryland, you need to visit to walk through the beautiful, indoor botanical gardens of the Cascades. You will see lush greenery growing in the large atrium areas, watch fish swim by in the koi pond, and enjoy an indoor waterfall. The serenity of these gardens can be enjoyed by sitting on benches located throughout the hotel, or you can stroll through the walking paths.
Relax at the water fountain
Located in approximately the center of the hotel is a high dome, which is indicative of a beautiful water fountain. This fountain is surrounded by a tiered area to just relax or take in the beauty of the fountain shows. The fountain is always going, but sometimes is also synchronized with lights and music.
Take a gondola ride
In the Delta, you will find more water throughout the garden areas, however, this water is a path around this part of the hotel, in which you can take a slow, relaxing ride in the gondola.
Visit the water park
Recently opened, is a large water park, called Soundwaves. With both indoor and outdoor areas, you can enjoy this water park year round. Of course, there are all the things that you expect with a water park, including a lazy river and water slides, but there is also an arcade and rock climbing wall here too!
Take a swim
There are several pools at the hotel, some indoor and some outdoor, so you can enjoy swimming year round as well.
Pamper yourself at the Relache Spa
If you are looking for a full service spa, you need to book an appointment at the Relache Spa, also located within the hotel. Whether you are looking for a massage or a manicure, you are su to enjoy your spa experience here.
Go shopping at Opry Mills
Through the hotel, are several gift shops. You can pick up a souvenir mug or t-shirt, but you can also grab snacks or other necessities, such as ibuprofen. However, if you are looking for a bit more shopping, you can literally just go next door and explore Opry Mills. Opry Mills is a large shopping mall that is home to several store, restaurants (we had a fun meal at the Amazon Rainforest Cafe), and even entertainment, such as Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum.
Grab a bite to eat
There are several restaurants to choose from. Some offer more casual dining experiences, while some are a bit more formal, and may even require a reservation.
Our first night there was New Year’s Eve, so things were a bit busy. Because we were vacationing as a family, we decided to keep things as quick and casual as possible. In the afternoon, we ate a light lunch at the Solaris Cantina. The food was delicious! We tried a variety of tacos, chips and Queso, and even a Mexican-style hot dog. For dinner, we put our name on the list at the Jack Daniel’s restaurant. The nice thing about these restaurants is that there are no reservations, but you put your name on the list and they will text you when your table is ready. So you don’t have to wait around, you can relax in your room or enjoy other activities at the hotel until your table is ready.
These are just a few of the best restaurants to eat at in Nashville! But there are so many others to check out!
Best Places to stay in downtown Nashville
If you want to be within walking distance of Broadway—the street with about a million bars and honky tonks—or any of the other fun things to do in Nashville, then you are going to want to stay downtown. And we found a few awesome places…
The Renaissance Hotel Downtown
When visiting a city, it really is a fun experience to stay downtown. We find it very convenient, because once you are parked, you can just walk to many of the downtown attractions. Looking out of the room at all the city lights is a lot of fun too!
Probably our favorite thing about our stay at the Renaissance was the pool table in our suite! The boys had never played pool before, so this was a real treat for them—and they loved it!
Bode
The Bode hotel was considered downtown, but was on the outskirts of town. While it was only about a half mile walk to Broadway from our hotel, it was a bit less busy. Another great feature was that this hotel offered free parking—not something that you often see in a downtown area.
The standout quality about this hotel is that it offers several gathering areas. In the lobby area, guests can relax and play board games that at sitting out at each table, enjoy a delicious latte or even order a cocktail. There were also several outdoor fire pits, lawn chairs, corn hole games, and even an indoor game room with a ping pong table. This was great for our family gathering with our tweens and teenaged children.
